C.A.T.; Community Awareness Training; a division of the Glenvista 5 Resident Association work in conjunction with the SAP and Crime Line in an effort to suppress crime and to exchange information.

The vision of C.A.T.- is to be a community driven crime prevention program aimed at domestic workers in the Glen 5 area; equipping them with necessary skills and knowledge to help in crime prevention; while at the same time aim to enhance and promote community spirit and involvement.

Members of the Glen 5's domestic employees form a vital part in the above vision; as our domestics are our "eyes and ears" in the community. Our aim is to get all residents within the Glenvista 5 area to register their domestic workers with C.A.T.; by equipping them better to assist in crime prevention through attending monthly training sessions.

The C.A.T. training objectives are as follows:

  • Assist residents / domestic workers on what to do in the case of burglaries/ attempted burglaries/ unlawful entry;
  • Emergency medical care, 1st aid training for domestics; in order that they can assist in the event of any emergency;
  • Details on the police in area; emergency contact numbers, how to report any suspicious activities or crime;
  • Function of security companies in the area;
  • Habits and Routines within Glenvista 5 area – what to look out for,
  • Fire training;
